Frequently Asked Questions
- How long does a boudoir or beauty session take?
-
The session will run around an hour and a half, however hair and makeup take generally an hour as well. We schedule the hair and makeup at 9am, and then move into outfit selections and all that good stuff before moving into your session.
After your session, we schedule a 45-60 minute break to grab some food/coffee/run an errand, while I run through the session images, prep for showing them to you, and then meet back in the studio for your BIG REVEAL! This is where you will make all your decisions and purchase your selections. This process can last an hour or so. All in all- the whole experience will last roughly 4-5 hours.
- What payment options do you accept?
-
We accept credit/debit cards and also offer in-house pre-payment plans available before your session date. Pre-session payment plans have a $150 minimum and can be broken up into monthly payments up to 9 months prior to your session.
- Can I bring a friend or partner to my session?
-
You are more than welcome to bring a supportive friend or partner! If you have a harsh inner critic and struggle with your self-image bringing someone for support can be fun and/or helpful. They can stay for your session or they can grab a coffee next door while we shoot and then join us for the presentation. Many of our married clients like to bring their spouse in for the presentation. They can even join you for a few super romantic photos at the end your photoshoot!

You want to make sure you eat something before your session, as you will be needing that energy! Some recommendations: Fruit, yogurt, eggs, toast, a light breakfast to help energize you through your session.
- How do you prepare your body for a boudoir photo shoot?
-
You will receive a digital prep guide with some great information packed in upon booking your session, however here a couple basics:
- Arrive with a clean and moisturized face. ...
- Moisturize your entire body! We don't recommend using a tanner, as it is almost always blotchy and doesn't come across as the beautiful, smooth glowing skin you want your images to result in.
- Wear loose fitting clothing and undergarments to avoid impressions on the skin.
- Eat a light meal that will ensure you're satisfied but not bloated.
- Allow plenty of time to arrive on time.
- When should I shave before boudoir shoot?
-
Shaving can be done the night prior to the shoot, avoid shaving several days prior to the session to keep your skin smooth and not irritated. Consider products designed to help minimize razor burn if that is often an issue for you. Shaving the night before the shoot or the day of can help avoid this.
- Should I paint my nails for a boudoir shoot?
-
Your Nails Matter
While it may not be obvious, hands and feet are featured and highlighted more than you would think in your boudoir photos. Chipped old polish is likely not the look you want. Therefore, it's worthwhile to treat yourself to a mani-pedi before your shoot or do your own however you would like them to look. - What should I do the night before a photoshoot?
-
Eat, Drink, and Rest
Probably not all too surprising, but these are essential for your portraits. Make sure to eat something, drink plenty of water, and get a good night's sleep before your session. Your body will thank you! Photo sessions are a blast but can be exhausting, so you'll want to feel comfortable and happy! - What are some things to avoid in the days leading up to a boudoir session?
-
Here are several things to avoid in the days and hours leading up to your shoot:
- Sunbathing or spray tanning: Any boudoir photographer will advise you to avoid tan lines, as they can show up in your photos and are not easy to remove in post processing. I would avoid the sun as much as possible leading up to your session date. Same can be said about spray tanning. Although it may seem like an appropriate alternative, if done wrong, it can leave you looking orange and splotchy. If you do decide to spray tan, make sure to do a test trial weeks before the shoot to make sure you are satisfied with the color. I would also recommend getting a custom tan over a spray booth tan.
- Eating a large meal: It’s hard to strike a pose when you’re bloated and uncomfortable. Prevent bloating and tummy aches by eating a lighter meal before the shoot. Just make sure it is a balanced nutrient meal. No cereal ladies. Something with protein to keep you full until lunch time.
- Getting a facial: Stick to your usual face care regimen before your session so you don’t get unwanted redness or breakouts. The same can be said about hair care. No crazy cuts or colors before your session that you are not familiar with!
- Alcohol: Staying up late with a drink in hand isn’t the way to go the night before your photo shoot. Get a good night’s sleep and instead consider celebrating after the shoot when your hair and makeup are already beautifully done up.
- Worrying about the specifics: Don’t worry about posing or other specifics. TRUST THE PROCESS, and let Angie take care of you!
